The controversary of the interrelations between religion and gender becomes evident within recent public debates. These interrelations are pursued through the overviews and case studies in this volume. All articles originate from the 2017 symposium "Opening Pandora s Box: Sex, Power & Religion" in Munich and trace back to an initiative by students to academically engage with the topic of gender and religion. On doing so, the gendered perspective is a discursive one.
