Peck and Sachet know Turkey!

This is the best coverage of Turkey that I've seen. I've been there many times, and advise this series of books for my friends. The authors are definitely not turkeys. The best part of the series is the in-depth attention to detail for cultural aspects of the region and the changing face of the middle east. I fear that my first trip would have gone very poorly if I didn't have their advice. Turkey is an odd country, and the authors do a very nice job of simplifying the culture to an extent where you can understand the motivation of the residents with regard to the history and religious influence of the region.

Better than any other available Turkey travel guide

Great details, good insight, clear organization! Authors Peck & Sachet understand what travelers need to know to make the most of their trip through Turkey.

Very informative without being BORING!

I'm looking to travel, so I've been looking for books to guide my way. To tell you the truth, most of them put me to sleep and turned me off to where I wanted to go to begin with. This guide was different. It was very insightful and informative regarding where I should go and what I should do without restricting my "travellers creativity". I'm taking it with me to Turkey. That should tell you enough.

The Best Travel Guide on Turkey

Open Road's Turkey Guide is one of the best travel guides I've used in any country. The authors' profound cultural and historical understanding of Turkey is expressed in a readable and entertaining style. The hotel reccomendations are right on target for comfortable lodging in places with character. The suggested itineraries at the beginning of the book helped us decide among the many great areas of the country to explore. The book led us to the brilliant, contorted rockscape of Cappadoccia, (with thousands of caves carved by early Christians); to extraordinary ancient ruins; and to pristine beaches. Turkey is a great country for travel and Turkey Guide shows you how to do it right.

The Great Turkish Travel Guide

Wow! I'm not usually big on travel writing, but this is no ordinary travel writing. Most guides, especially in series like this one, are shallow and touristy and cobbled together by blatantly untalented hacks whose main qualification is their willingness to work cheap. Not so here, though. Peck & Sachet depict modern Turkey and its imperial predecessors in exquisite detail, weaving modern realities and the rich desiderata of history into a surprisingly enchanting narrative. Technically flawless but still loose and unbridled, "Turkey Guide" does for Istanbul what Joyce's "Ulysses" did for Dublin: it embodies it perfectly. Bravo!
