Willi Wissemann returns to Germany, escaping French captivity and the prospect of languishing in a POW camp. He is determined to settle down-marry his fianc e, take an instructor's job, and retire from air combat all together. But fate has other ideas. Devastated by a personal calamity, he slips into inexorable bitterness. His differences with Oberst Thomsen come to a head. What eventually transpires puts Wissemann back in the good graces of the Air Service, the High Command, and his old Jasta. All in time for Germany's greatest offensive, a do-or-die drive on Paris that will hopefully end the war and bring Germany complete and utter victory.
