An incisive personality profile on a brilliant businessman

It seems from tne book that Fred Alger, although highly succesful in the business of managing money, is to say the least, a difficult person to deal with, if not just to BE with. So I wondered at times while reading his work, if the author had a lot of trouble trying to understand his subject adequately first before he could write effectively (and most important, CORRECTLY) about him. But from his carefully chosen words and well-crafted phrases it appears that Dilip has conquered his subject, enabling readers to understand, appreciate and LIKE Fred Alger! Although this is a very detailed biography of not only Fred Alger but his ancestors' background, I was hoping to read more detail on his techniques in investing in equities. Except mentioning that he favors "growth stocks" Dilip could have looked deeper as to what criteria Alger looks for (e.g. minimum percentage returns on capital and/or equity, and why?) pricing ratios (on earnings, sales, book value, etc) growth rates (of earnings and equity for example) and anything else that holds keys to Alger's success. Congratulations are in order for Dilip, as he is someone I've known personally for many years ever since my Manila days and later, while he was at Columbia and at the U.N.
