First I must say that when I cook I prefer cooking convenient dishes that take under ninety-minutes to prepare. Second, I'm a decent cook with a few secret spices that bring out the flavor in most of the few dishes that I've mastered. That being said, this treasure of a book makes me a Bachelor Gourmet Chef, ready to entertain and please my company with a variety of different dishes. No more doctored up hamburger helper with sausage and mozzarella cheese for me. I'm through with the poor man's lasagna. I've now got simple to follow directions for making restaurant food of all types. Not only are the recipes and their measurements clear and easy to follow, but the pictures are so real-like that you'll immediately know when its ready and if you were successful. I own one other cookbook that my ex-wife left me, I suppose it was left to rub in the divorce like a meat tenderizer. I never could connect the dots to produce one edible recipe from that book. We recently reconciled as friends and I gave it to her as a peace offering. You can believe that this One Pot cookbook will not leave my kitchen. When I discovered it at the secondhand bookstore, its interesting cover and inside delicacies drew half the store staff to the register where I was paying for it. Again, the pictures, as well as the fancy 3-dimensional cover (2009 Paragon Edition,Hardcover), simply grabs the attention and appetite of all walks of life. The recipes, though mostly American dishes I think,are cross cultural. The Russian lady at the store was amazed to find a recipe for Borscht, a common Russian beet soup. I urge anyone who's ever tried and given up on using cookbooks to give One Pot a chance. You'll discover that you have it in you to prepare a healthy and tasty meal using a book recipe. Its a real confidence booster for me to triumph in making my first dish attempted from this book, the dish from page 129, Louisiana Chicken. Sure you'll have to stock up on a few spices you may not currently have, but that's what makes it so triumphant an accomplishment. This book is definitely a change from other cookbooks. And as the saying goes, its a change I can believe in and I look forward to tackling other recipes soon. Oh, this is important.
