One More Rainbow; One More Dream A collection of lyrics from Irish singer-songwriter Paul Murphy, drawn from material written in 2022, following the discovery that he was struck by an incurable, irreversible auto-immune muscle wasting disease. Amongst the work herein are the 'Ward-Songs' cycle, a series of pieces written during a 5-week spell in hospital that were later transformed into an acclaimed Internet album; reflections on the spinning wheel of fate and its often-cruel outcomes; songs from the 'Lost Lyrics' files; remember-me/advice songs for his young children; and around these pieces, the social commentary, narrative ballad and love songs that Paul has always been renowned for. In addition to these songs, having left the collection in his archive for later release, in late 2024 Paul added 3 extra songs written in the final days he was able to: the adrenalin-punk 'Who Are You, Anyway', the 'goodbye' anthem 'I'll See YouAround', and the elegiac, allegorical ballad 'The Gentle Willow', often cited as 'the best time-up epitaph since "My Way"'. Rounding out the anthology is an essay by Paul, 'Painting Rainbows Out Of Tears', in which he details the backdrop to, and back-story of, all the songs presented here. Moving, emotive, heartwarming and, at times, uncomfortable, these lyrics showcase the narrative and alliterative songwriting skills of a master of the genre. The Gentle Willow Voice caressing like a silken breeze Soothes my soul, and puts my mind at ease With the gentle willow next to me I will weep no more Sunlight smile that makes teardrops dry Holds more secrets than the sapphire sky With the beautiful willow by my side I know only joy Her tender touch upon your cheek Brings every answer you could seek From the psalm's first line to the edge of time She bears all witness... and grants forgiveness At her favour, all storms cease Each captive heart will know release The lilting willow singing songs of peace All pain fades away
