A beautiful story with Outstanding Illustrations

No matter what time of day, everyday holds some magic in the life of young animals. As this summer day begins readers greet the morning as a fawn wakes up with it's Mother and, baby ducks explore tall grass by a pond, surrounded by blooming Iris's. In a field covered with red poppies lambs frolic, while piglets roll happily in the mud on a farm. Adorable puppies play, as a young fowl sunbathes, kittens are cleaned by their Mother and nap cuddled by her warm body. While baby swallows get their dinner, young calves rest in the shade and a donkey gazes at the wonder of the sunset over the pasture. As night falls fox cubs poke their heads out and explore the meadow. Baby owls, shyly appear with their Mother, as the stars and moon rise. This beautiful story is told to us in rhyme. Using clean, lyrical text, Claire Freedman creates a magical world for a child to discover. (A book especially to be appreciated by those enduring a long winter). This is a wonderful story for a child anytime of day, but is perfect for bedtime or "winding down." Tina Macnaughton's endearing illustrations are nothing short of spectacular and provide magnificent settings for all to enjoy. Every reader will feel apart of this summer day in the animal's world, as butterflies travel with them throughout many of the illustrations. Ms. Macnaughton captures the expressions of curiosity and joy on the faces of the animals, but does a particularly outstanding job with the lambs, kittens, piglets, swallows and fox cubs. This book is timeless and will be enjoyed by many generations of children and adults to come.
