Kayla meets a Florida boy named Caden while she's on vacation with her Mom, sister Lily and Lily's boyfriend Cody. Caden takes Kayla out for ice cream and karaoke. But Kayla deals with anxiety about her cats going outside and wonders where she supposed to go in life as a blind person. When small town country singer, Scoot Bennett, a guy who surprised her for her 25th birthday recently, shows up at a pizza place they were eating at, Kayla's mind changes about possibly being with Caden. She hopes to connect with Scoot more so the next night after breaking down to Caden at the beach, he takes her to hear Scoot sing. Scoot invites her to sing with him and he abruptly stops the show to take Kayla to a hotel to talk to her. Kayla's Mom and sister were furious and track Kayla down. From there, Kayla goes back to her hometown of Georgia and her close friends Kenesha and Taylor invite Scoot to the bakery's big one year celebration. When Kayla's Mom sees Scoot walking out with Kayla so they can talk to her about how they feel, her Mom is understanding. But when Scoot asks Kayla out at Chili's the next day, Hosanna isn't happy. Will Kayla be able to convince her Mom that even though Scoot's a different race and does music, that he's a good guy?
