"You have cancer." Three short but clear words. That you never want to hear. As a twin, I was happy to get out of the womb a few minutes earlier than my sister to start plotting in my new world. Being a part of a pair had become second nature to me. Years later, I would have to give up one of my kidneys. They were supposed to stay together. Organizing my health information in a way that I could wrap my head around it was one of the most important steps I took. Understanding all the medical jargon is a challenge in and of itself. I hope this helps others who are dealing with cancer in some small way. We are not alone. My story is no more special than the next person. Just different.
