It was the mid-80s and Jason Gold was fast approaching his 35th year on earth. He'd become resigned to a life well below what he's envisioned for himself as a young man. Being a high school teacher wasn't so bad but he felt he'd squandered the chance of doing something bigger and more rewarding. He also never had one serious romantic relationship, walking away from one fling after another. One of these in particular still bothered him. While taking a cross country trip with two friends a decade earlier he met a waitress named Julie King and was smitten. A part time job tutoring Harold's son led to summer employment and eventually a permanent position, at Mr. Hirschorn's newest company, National Finance. The pair traveled around the country from their base in Philadelphia, building the business. Jason was now living in the fast paced and exciting life of major commercial real estate development before they soon became involved with South American drug dealers, the CIA and even the Iran-Contra affair. A chance encounter with Julie King drew her back into his life and a world of intrigue and danger along with him.
