This play covers the court-martial of US Navy Petty Officer Jay Tabachnik, accused of attempted rape and murder of a female sailor, Petty Officer Drew De Rosa. He is being prosecuted by Navy Commander Jackie Gallagher, who believes it was a vengeful killing motivated by fear of being disciplined for prior sexual harassment towards the victim. His defense attorney, Commander Dennis Krinsky contends that accusations against his client by the government are unrealistic and that he was probably framed up for the crime by his supervisors, in order to cover up their poor leadership during the deployment to Kuwait and Iraq, where both Tabachnik and De Rosa went. Krinsky also believes that the alleged sexual harassment issue never took place but was only used as a pretext to keep his client and the victim, who also used to love each other, apart. In a desperate search for the truth, both lawyers go to court, where besides dealing with the murder case, they essentially put the entire military service on trial.
