Ever since my world came crashing down around me when I was 16 years old, as I confronted the sexual abuse of my childhood and everything that stemmed from it, I have had a guiding motto in my life that has been instrumental in helping me move forward..."one day at a time." It has been my experience that, within that manageable segment of time, you can handle just about anything life throws at you. And yes, sometimes-when the going gets especially rough, and the horizon appears extra dark-that "one day" can become "one second."
