Once Upon a Time in Holyrood

Edinburgh 2047.

It's July in Edinburgh and the social season is in full swing. Young ladies from the foremost aristocratic families have been presented at court and are about to take part in the most important event of their lives: the Debutante Draft at the Royal Highland Show. Mrs Bunnet's hopes of finding wealthy suitors for her daughters Jane, Elizabeth, Mary, Kitty and Lydia are high. But the Bunnets have fallen on hard times and they are in debt to the tune of hundreds of thousands of euro. When the sisters break the conditions of the loan agreement and run away to the Highlands to be married the creditors foreclose.

Sheriff's Officer Justine Claverhouse, is hired to capture the fugitives before their marriages are consummated. She must bring them from Taymouth Castle cross country through the forest to Pitlochry and put them on the 15.10 train to Waverley. The problem is that one of the grooms' mothers is Baroness Paula Minto of Athole, the only woman in Scotland permitted to maintain a private army, and there are one thousand heavily armed Athole Highlanders blocking the way.

Justine usually rides alone but this time she's going to need a posse.

Science fiction, fandom and political satire in a reimagining of the classic 'Pride and Prejudice' set in Edinburgh and the Southern Highlands.

The book builds on plot threads and characters from 'The Repository Suppository' but can be read out of order.
