Once Upon A Daylight Saving Time

The transition to Daylight Saving Time (or Daylight Savings Time) happens every year, and yet among all the books of poetry for kids, and there are lots and lots of them, where can one find a fun rhyming children's book on the topic? What's more, where can one find such a book that also teaches a few lessons on manners for children? The time is ripe for one! And here it is! In ONCE UPON A DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME, a rattlesnake needs a hand in winding his clock one hour ahead. But there's a problem. Because he's used to bossing all the critters around, he's much too gruff, and each time he meets a potential helping hand, he louses things up with his bad manners. After a long, unsuccessful day, the rattlesnake finds some prairie dogs and rightly sees them as his last hope. Unfortunately, he louses things up once again. However, something's different this time. Instead of running away, a little prairie dog, shocked at the rattlesnake's rudeness, decides to teach him the ABCs of minding his p's and q's. But with night drawing near, will the rattlesnake learn his lesson in time? There's only one way to find out! However, if you'd like a sample of the story first, read on. For example, here's how it all begins: "The day before the wacky change to Daylight Saving Time, there happened something sort of strange, which brought about this rhyme." As mentioned above, the rattlesnake has a need. But the problem is that he's much too rude. Instead of asking politely, he scares the living daylights out of the critters who are his potential helpers: "Come here! I've got a job for you. Come change my clock right now! Just wind a part. That's all you do. Come here! I'll show you how." Needless to say, the rattlesnake isn't very successful. Eventually, though, a bright little prairie dog decides to help him, and in doing so, she also helps anyone else who has difficulties with politeness: "When you need help, don't yell. Just ask! And when you ask, say please. And once your friend has done the task, say thank you. It's a breeze!" And if all the above excerpts still aren't enough to win you over, how about a final one containing a fun rhyme the book has to help explain the silly time change that takes place when Daylight Saving Time starts: "1:59 turns into 3. We leapfrog 2 that morn. I know it's odd. Don't question me. It's something many scorn." Well, now it's up to you: Do you want to read a Daylight Saving Time children's book? Do you want to read one of the most interesting books on manners for kids around? Do you like rhyming stories? Do you want to read one of the most unique books of poetry for children and even adults as well? Do you like rattlesnakes, roadrunners, lizards, and prairie dogs? If so, then ONCE UPON A DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME is for you!
