The families were connected by circumstance, the migration to Adelaide in 1838 on the Lloyds. Thereafter they maintained intermittent relationships depending on fortune and misfortune. This fictionalised novel follows the families through their crimes and trials, the prosperous share investments, and business dealings. It describes their endurance, fortitude, and adaptability, and documents their marriages, dramas, and tragedies. Whether rich or poor a common repetitive thread ties their lives into an intricate web of once, twice, and thrice.
