A Heartbreaking, Hope-Inspiring, Virtuoso Performance

Award-winning conservatory-trained piano prodigy and virtuoso David Meece demonstrates with this album why his work is known and loved around the world. His songs communicate experiences and emotions that at once are autobiographical and universal. His painful past, his richly-redeemed life and his hope-filled future are all here for his listeners to sample. The depth of his sorrow and the height of his joy are evident, as are the strength of his conviction and the warmth of his affection for the God who rescued him from a living hell. While all of the songs in this collection are excellent, two in particular speak volumes about the pain Meece has escaped and the joy he has found in the bosom of Christ: "Going Home" and "My Father's Chair". The first is a comparison drawn between a pilgrimage to his childhood home in Humble, Texas and that final pilgrimage each of us will make at the end of his or her life. While painful memories populate the former, the latter is bright with promise of eternal happiness. "My Father's Chair", easily Meece's most popular work, similarly compares different chairs and the different fathers who occupy them. The first chair is that of his own alcoholic father who abandoned him and his mother early in his life; the second chair is his own where, he prays, his children will always know they'll find love; the third chair is God's throne of grace. Even hearts of stone will melt into flesh as they ponder the amazing love that placed such awesome talent in such dire circumstances, then called it back to communicate to a desperate world how that love will redeem each life that trusts in the Name of Jesus Christ.
