On This Rock: Foundations for Church Planting & Pastoral Ministry

By Rev. Dr. Thayil John

Drawing inspiration from Jesus' declaration, "I will build my church" (Matthew 16:18), On This Rock presents a biblically grounded exploration of church planting and pastoral ministry for pastors, missionaries, church planters, ministry leaders, and students of theology.

Drawing from more than five decades of ministry experience across India and Australia, Rev. Dr. Thayil John combines biblical teaching, practical wisdom, personal testimony, and contemporary case studies to examine the foundations of healthy, Christ-centred churches.

In this book, readers will discover:

- The biblical foundations of church planting in the New Testament
- Lessons from the ministries of Jesus, Paul, Timothy, Nehemiah, Epaphras, Priscilla and Aquila
- Principles for developing disciples, leaders, and healthy church culture
- Insights into multicultural ministry and church planting in diverse communities
- Biblical responses to persecution, doctrinal challenges, and pastoral obstacles
- Practical guidance for building sustainable, mission-focused churches

Rather than presenting church planting as a human strategy, On This Rock reveals it as a divine calling rooted in the Great Commission and empowered by the Holy Spirit.

Whether you are preparing for ministry, planting a new church, leading an established congregation, or supporting emerging church leaders, this book will strengthen your vision, deepen your understanding of God's mission, and encourage you to build upon the only true foundation-Jesus Christ.
