If you are looking for the sterilized, bland, watered-down version of history that is taught in schools - this is definitely not the book for you. If you are looking for completely neutral, objective re-tellings of horrific events and the people involved in them then this is absolutely not the book for you. If you are looking for well-researched accounts that are boiled down to their essential elements and are presented in an informal, entertaining manner that includes copious amounts of swearing - then this is the book for you. I know people who are typically not interested in history who loved this book; and as a history geek with the degree to back it up it was incredibly refreshing to come across an author who is willing to call out BS when he writes about it.
Interesting, but a little too political for most people.

Thought this was a "this day in history" kind of book, and it is--but there is a fair amount of the author's personal opinions inserted. Don't get me wrong; I agree with some things; but author should have kept a more professional tone when writing this book. I'm looking for history, not necessarily complaints about political candidates (which may or may not reflect what happened that day in history!)
