This book is inspired by a 1921 panoramic photo of the public square in my hometown, Mt. Gilead, Ohio. A man is resting on a bench where I once sat as a boy, daydreaming. I might like to be a writer. Over my shoulder was the Union Register Newspaper, where I stopped by to hear the news. The library was up the street where Dawn Powell was once a patron as a girl. Now, the library bears her name. This story is fiction, though filled with much truth and possibilities.
