This book deals with the relationship between deixis and memory. In linguistic studies, there is no approach to this relationship. For this reason, we present B hler and Benveniste's position on the concept of deixis and a possible spatio-temporal translocation of enunciation. Afterwards, we deal phenomenologically with how deictic expressions function in terms of memory, based on philosophical approaches from Deleuze, Merleau-Ponty and Bergson. Finally, we analyse, through concrete examples, how the use of deixis is requested by the enunciator when remembering a physical object. The reflection of this study, unpublished in Brazil, reveals how deixis acts on the level of memory.
