Alison, or Aly as she is more usually addressed, a single mother of five-year-old Sophia, is on the run from an abusive relationship with her husband and his family. They are currently in the throes of their eighth or ninth panic-stricken move, following an encounter with one of her husband's old friends at a wedding reception. Fearing that her husband and his family are trying to track her down to either force her back under their control or to take her daughter from her, Aly feels that she has no alternative course of action but to move on yet again. Sophia, even at the tender age of five, senses her mother's tension and thinks nothing of packing up her things and blindly accepting that they must yet again abruptly leave behind the place she has come to call home and the friends she has made along the way. Aly realises that this is no life for a child, and she feels guilty at subjecting her daughter to this stress-filled nomadic lifestyle. We follow Aly and Sophia as they attempt to establish a more permanent home, free from the fear of recognition and confrontation.
