On the Fritz in Nosara

This book is a collection of my short stories, observations and unfinished manuscripts inspired by life in Nosara, Costa Rica. The stories are a combination of satire, parody, science fiction and late-night musings designed to make you laugh or shake your head. I moved full time to Nosara in September 2007, after having been captured by the strange energy force that some refer to as a 'vortex.' I suspect it is also a portal to other worlds, what a friend deemed a 'portex.' Or maybe it is a vortal - if you've been in Nosara a while you probably have your own experience. Whatever it is, I have tried to capture it in the following chapters. Nosara is a mystical and possibly mythical place where yoga students tap into their prana and surfers feel a special stoke from the tubes. Some people report seeing unusual objects in the sky. Plant 'medicine' is consumed as balm for the soul and Blue Zone is used as a marketing pitch by influencers and spiritual entrepreneurs. Those who settle here may believe they are manifesting their dreams, while at the same time giving up control over the essentials of life, such as water, electricity, and of course, the Internet. Nosara is in the throes of development, and many fear that the special magic could be lost as it transforms to 'Newsara.' I hope not, because this is what we love, and a good sense of humor is essential to survival.
