Ancient philosphies for use in our modern world.

Most of you recognize the parable of the blind men and the elephant. After touching various parts of the animals body, the men who could not see were asked to describe the creature. Eventually they began to argue about their perceptions. On The Elephant's Knee ($14.95, 1998, Triple "e" Productions, South Lake Tahoe California) is authored by local resident Thomas M. Easley. Many of you know Mr. Easley, or know of him. Born in Oroville California, Thomas was raised right here in Lake Tahoe with one of his earliest jobs being a deliverer of the Tahoe Daily Tribune. Easley has led an interesting life since leaving and coming home to Lake Tahoe. He has been a professional skier, a monk, a photographer, and artist in addition to being an author. This is a slim book, full of information based on "foundation knowledge" and "universal wisdom." Ancient philosophies, traditions and concepts are the core of this work. The understandings and insights included here help the reader to examine and learn the five foundation "principles" or "laws." They are (1) body type, (2) alchemy, (3) chief feature, (4) center of focus and (5) essence. Each of these principles is fully described in these pages. According to foundation knowledge, these laws constitute the basis of who we are. On The Elephant's Knee is a fascinating work. You will want to own it so that it can be used over and over to help you identify yourself and others. I found it much easier to determine the traits of my friends than to recognize myself. Introspection is not an easy task for most of us and yet, knowing oneself is the most important job we have in this life. I want, I like, I hope are the concepts that allow us to live well. Mr. Easley's compilation will help, but it is up to us as individuals to embark on our own journeys. These pages are guaranteed to help the reader "become more aware of what we are, as human, not to change what we are." "Man is multidimensional" is Easley's recurring pronouncement. Readers will learn about many things in these pages, if only they are brave enough to look.
