On compressible Navier-Stokes-Korteweg System

This book is concerned with the models of capillary compressible fluids describing the dynamics of a liquid-vapor mixture with diffuse interfaces, in the case of general pressure law including Van der Waals gas. The formulation of the theory of capillarity with diffuse interfaces was first introduced by Korteweg in 1901 and derived rigorously by Dunn-Serrin in 1985. Later, this model is called the compressible Navier-Stokes-Korteweg system. For the Van der Waals gas, it is well known that depending on the fixed temperature or the fixed entropy, the pressure is a non-decreasing function of the density or may present an interval, which is thermodynamically unstable. In the last two decades, although considerable progress has been obtained for the existence and uniqueness of solutions for the compressible Navier-Stokes-Korteweg system, however many results are obtained only in the case with increasing pressure laws which is not interested in this book.
