A guide to the psychiatric problems readers are likely to encounter while on call. It provides the information needed to make sound, confidant decisions. Introductory chapters cover the diagnosis and management of on call problems, as well as the special considerations of psychiatric patients and their problems. Part Two covers psychiatric problems that are commonly seen in the emergency room. Individual chapters present a problem and lead the reader to definitive psychiatric care. Some commonly seen medical problems are also seen in this section.
This is a good book with the basics of how to deal with psychiatric emergencies. It is great for the psych intern just starting out, and for non-psychiatric professionals. However, at times it is a little simplistic and does not offer enough options in terms of treatments.
