Great learning tool

This phylosophy saved me! My baby was sleeping through the night by 6 weeks. and a year and half later, I'm read the whole series. Wonderful reading, take what you need and don't use what you don't need.

Crazy people need not review!!!!!

I just noticed all the CRAZY people reviewing this book seem to have pretty strong reviews on this author and do not like Babywise recommendations. "On Becoming Babywise" is an incredible book that is right on in it's recommendations. I (an many, many of my friends) have become better parents because of his recommendations. He is a huge proponent of family and making sure that parents know what to expect and giving basic recommendations as far as how often a baby needs to eat and about how long (in general) a baby will sleep. The cycle they recommend of Eat/Awake/Sleep not only makes sense, IT WORKS! Baby's who eat as soon as they wake up are more alert and therefore eat MORE. They are less likely to "snack" and therefore more like to thrive and grow and have a better sleep when they do go to sleep. Then playing, singing, reading and spending time with your baby are all part of his recommendations for "awake" time and is fun bonding with your baby. This pattern of Eat/Awake/Sleep has worked for all of my friends that have tried it and made every one of us more confident and empowered mothers who all have brillent, well adjusted, loving and caring children without the crazy attachment disorders that these other crazy idiots are talking about. This book may not have more than just basic information that you could find else where, however, what's wrong with the basics of birthing??? Sure is nice to know! I also have to add, as far as "Babywise" is concerned that all the friends I know that have not used this book as a general guide, their children are 5 years old and older -still sleeping in their parents bed and still waking in the middle of the night because their selfish parents were too weany to teach them that they are safe and cared for and that their parents can be away from them for small periods of time (like night-time)and still love them! The UnBabywise kids I know have to have Mommy and Daddy in their bed to help them go to sleep or go back to sleep. Babywise parents have taught their children that they can have a wonderful and confortable sleep in their own beds, without needing their parents every time they wake up and have babies that know this from around 3 months old. I have watched the "Babywise" families vs the Un-Babywise families for a period of many years and I will take the behavior and adjustment of the "Babywise" kids over the other ANY DAY!!!!!!

The Ezzo's have a great common sense book

I've raised both my children according to the babywise recommendations. They not only slept thru the night, but are amazing children. Brilliant, healthy, compassionate. The Babywise series is all about empowering the parents to make positive choices for their children. I also benefited from 'Parenting with Love and Logic'. As with anything, read the book and make your own decision. Please do not let all these illogical, irrational reviews deprive you of your opportunity to do what is best for you and your child. To the rest of the reviewers...Grow Up!
