Summary: Omphalocele is the most common congenital malformation of the anterior abdominal wall. It corresponds to a defect of the abdominal wall with externalization of the coves covered by the amniotic membrane and centered by the cord.The main objective of this study was to investigate the epidemiological and clinical aspects of omphalocele, as well as its management in the pediatric surgery department of CHU Gabriel Tour .We conducted a retrospective study of patients with omphalocele admitted to the pediatric surgery department of CHU Gabriel Tour , over a 5-year period, from January 2018 to December 2022, we collated 97 patients (i.e. 19.4cas/year). There were 51 boys and 46 girls (sex ratio1.1) with a mean age of 15.38 days. The average age of the mothers was 24.45 years. Prenatal consultation was performed in 82 cases (84.5%). Half of our patients were followed by obstetrical ultrasound, including 8 cases of prenatal diagnosis (19.04%). 11 cases of caesarean section were found (11.3%).We found 41 cases (42.3%) of type I and 56 cases (57.7%) of type II according to A tken's classification.
