Chandra's journey is almost complete as she leaves the Sanctuary where she was safe and sound, only to face unforeseeable perils that continue to hunt her down. Xenos takes Chandra to Barunda, but shortly after her arrival, emperor Nagar is murdered, and she is accused of the crime; Barunda's people seek justice. Treau the changeling, helps her escape and they end up crashing in the Caspria desert, a hostile unforgiving landscape. When Soran gets note of Chandra's accident he sends out a scout ship to retrieve her. She is found and brought to Nykarus; once there she is put into a rejuvenation tank where she drifts in and out of consciousness for a few days. During that time of drifting in darkness, the Kry'ash Stone that the Ny'Karins own communes with her and she learns that everything that is made from the energy of the stone, is connected. When she destroys the Ny'Karin Empire, she will die as well. Knowing her fate, she continues to deceive Soran even as they become intimately closer. She understands that he sees Kykia, the Dryadian Priestess in her eyes because she is her reincarnated form, but even Kykia would not allow the Ny'Karins to continue their tyranny so, Chandra ventures to the catacombs bent on destroying their only source of Life and meets an old foe who holds a long ardent grudge against her.
