One man’s version of American (world) history.

It is always useful to view history from different points of view. Sometimes it can be blatantly skewed; other times, it's an eye-opener. You will notice right off that Oliver has a penchant for the Soviets, which may grate on some viewers. However, this is part of the story he is trying to tell in this 12-part in-depth documentary. This presentation is so tightly focused that many times the big picture and world background history are ignored. This skews history as the sin of omission. However, I assume it is not intentional, but a matter of only so much can be said in the time allotted. You may want to read a few books from these eras before viewing this presentation so that you can compare and contrast them to this TV series. With many presentations, you get annoying piano tinkling background noise that almost drowns out the narration. In this presentation, they chose appropriate and classical pieces that sometimes are so good that it is distracting. I will not go into the many details of this presentation, as you need to see the information as it is presented in context. We get clips from news presentations. We get clips from movies of the time. We get great speeches (in context). We get references to many storybooks.
