The author's first novel is a huge hit with this reader!

This is a laugh-out-loud witty glimpse into the shallowness (and shadiness) of Palm Beach's high society. It is a quick read that leaves the reader wanting more. Oliver Booth and its cast of characters are so vividly described that you almost feel you know them personally (or at a minimum know someone just like them). The reader will not be disappointed! I can't wait to read Oliver Booth Part II.
Vive Oliver Booth!

Oliver Booth is laugh-out-loud funny. Falling somewhere between A Confederacy of Dunces and Candide, the novel skewers Palm Beach and Paris with its sharp wit. I eagerly await the next installment of Oliver Booth's misadventures.
SImply a great, entertaining read!

Right from the start I was immediately drawn into Oliver Booth's world. The characters are so well drawn that I could picture them perfectly. Packed with innuendo, Desmond creates a fast-paced, hysterical account of a Palm Beach "wannabe". I laughed out loud at the description of Palm Beach "where the men are difficult and the women are easy". The surprisingly sweet ending ties the whole book together neatly and left me with a smile on my face. My spouse and high school aged child loved it as well. I would recommend Oliver Booth to everyone including book clubs and high school summer required reading programs.
Hilariously sophisticated

This is by far the best book in its genre I have read in a long time. In the best tradition of satirical novels (think of a contemporary Evelyn Waugh or Nancy Mitford) the writer, who is clearly an insider with first-hand knowledge of both Palm Beach and Paris, delivers a sophisticated and hilarious array of characters and situations. Highly recommended - I would actually rate it six stars if one could.
Couldn't put this down!

An insider's irreverent view, with a cast of hilarious personalities. Desmond's dry wit and humor have created a highly entertaining novel, a work I couldn't put down. I strongly recommend this.
