Mercer's Old Yellow Hand spins the tale of the baron's hand, lopped off during an assassination by his beleaguered medieval serfs. His hand, preserved in formaldehyde and accidentally freed from its urn in a small town in Virginia after 200 years, begins a trail of grisly murders throughout Virginia. Hot on the hand's trail, a couple of young Romanian gypsies chase the villain back to its origin where they face off in the baron's dilapidated castle. Wow! I couldn't put the book down until I finished it. Then, I stayed awake all night hearing the eerie noises of the creeping hand. Great book!
