Old Man moves from riches to rags. His life falls apart. Throughout years of difficulties, his internal and external struggles take their toll. Nevertheless, even in the hardest of times, Old Man manages to make a difference in the lives of those he meets. He figures his inevitable destiny is etched stone, but he is wrong.

Old Man has many regrets. Some of these are from his decisions when he was a younger man known as Henry. His mind is haunted by events that he could both control and not control. As a result, he is constantly reliving his past while trying to cope with the present.

Robert Pauker began thinking and writing about Old Man in 2014. Throughout countless reflections and several drafts his development of Old Man has evolved into a character who cries out for love while accepting the consequences of his life.
