Kids are continuously exposed to the "G" rated violence in cartoons and the bloody special effects of movies. This is good preparation for kids to be soldiers and go to war because they have the impression that this violence is something other than what it is. That it is not permanent or doesn't hurt or is unreal. This poem is meant to make any kid stop and think about the real effects of violence before doing something stupid, when he/she should know better. I can only hope parents can take the message of this book seriously enough to share it with their children, no matter what it does to your stomach and internal motions.
