A comprehensive reference book for small-gauge cinema, compiled by Barbara Rosenthal, curator of the six-year Old and New Masters of Super-8 Film Festivals (1989-1996), and subsequent screenings of the NYFA (New York Foundation for the Arts) grant in filmmaking. This book features sixty-nine filmmakers and comprises seven full catalogs.
The 30th Anniversary Special Edition includes reproduced xerox catalogs of all six 'Old and New Masters of Super-8' Film Festivals held in New York City and Europe from 1989 to 1996. Additionally, it includes one catalog for the festival of films in the New York State Council of Arts Festival Tour (2004-2005) and a tribute obituary to Bill Creston, the filmmaker-founder of eMediaLoft.org, which organized these projects.
The book contains portraits, film stills, descriptions, bios, and filmographies on double-page spreads for each director each year. It also includes advertisements and information about Super-8 film organizations, screening rooms, services, festivals, individuals, products, and technologies.
