STREAM OF SPACE CONSCIOUSNESS

This is a Joycean slice of stream of relativistic spacetime consciousness crammed into 600 wild and different pages (no 2 pages are alike) Changes in format, repeated sections, overall rollicking, jumbled approach to language and thought as the Hawaiian's island-saving starhip The Whale approaches lightspeed is different as an alien in a laundromat. The cyberbased Infornauts prepare the Leap to the nearest star as the generation ship plods its sub-lightspeed way across the immense gap between the star systems. Disney and The Church compete for attention as starpilot Ramo tries to figure out the import of the Mission Statement, while looking for his shoes. A serious, laughing look at repressive thought regimes and the future of interstellar travel. The Labyrinth Quatrain is a core concept reappearing in each section of the book.

MEGA-META LANGUAGE

Awesome-Tour de Force. The book experiments with expectations of reading. Pokes at the notion of what "novel" really is! The bonus stories are wide-ranging and great - the first really new e-read I've had in a long time (I bought the ebook on 1stbooks.com for $6.99 before ordering the paperback to have it in hand.) Not only do parts of the book repeat (like the spiritual story section "Ecclesias" - rumor is this is the "George Bush" version so if you don;t get it first time around, you get it again) but also the type goes into paroxysms of format when the Whale (the ship in the book) approaches "lightspeed" - amazing we can still see to read!If language is a virus from outer space, this book is a virus of brilliant nuances for Mother Maui (Earth) - told in "slices" rather than in straight narrative timeline - time & space get inextricably fouled up as these future Hawaiians explore the possibilities of cyberspace, realtime, programming and Mission Critical eventism. A real howl!

SLICE OF SCI-FI LIFE

OHANAPassages of action, some wry and broad-strokish, laid over the bare bones of a large-scaleconcept, an entire Nation island going into space rather than lose their heritage again, mixes with new-tech discoveries in the realm of cyberspace and hyperspace. Fools withphysics concepts,. community and mission-to-the-stars aspects. Very funny. Which means family in Hawaiian, apparently. Very interesting social-fi slice of futurelife.
