easy to follow

Simply written and easy to follow. More usable than that crazy dog whisperer's advise.

One of the Best out there!

I purchased this book to prepare me for a new pup for one reason, it was more reasonably priced than many other books on puppy care. However, what I found was that although this book doesn't have the fancy photos of some puppy training books, the information provided by the author is top notch! I've purchase several other puppy training books since I first purchased this one, and I've yet to find a better book in terms of information, user friendliness, and price. I highly recommend this book. The guidance provided in invaluable and really works!

Off to a Good Start - puppy training

I have been involved in training dogs for over 40 years. This book has some new ideas of handling old problems. Very easy reading and a breath of fresh air toward training and problem solving. I enjoyed this book tremendously and tried its recommendations on my newest puppy...a very strong minded Great Dane!!

The best Book on raising a puppy I've seen

I used to think that I knew a lot about puppies, but I've learned more from this book than from 20 years of raising my own (and reading almost everything I could get my hands on). It's a sensible, readable, and good-natured book that has more information on a page than most books do in a chapter. The next time we have a litter, a copy of this book will accompany each puppy to its new home.

Invaluable information

This woman knows her stuff! I thought I knew a fair amount re: raising a puppy, but Mary Thompson's knowledge and years of experience blew me away. This is a must have book if you, or someone you know, is getting a new puppy.
