The Oferen an Dasserghyans (Mass of the Resurrection) is a pioneering unison congregational Mass in the Cornish language. The music has been composed by Mike O'Connor OBE using traditional Cornish melodies. The Cornish language text is based on established liturgy, and has been prepared by Jane Kneebone, Ross Crichton, Wella Morris and Tim Saunders. The orthography used is Standard Written Form Kernewek. The music is tuneful and readily singable, and is within the compass of the average voice. The keyboard accompaniment is straightforward and requires only modest skill. The Oferen an Dasserghyans is a significant contribution to the spiritual and cultural life of Cornwall and Cornish-speaking communities world-wide.
