Interesting

I have absolutely no idea how to review this book. I read all the rave reviews, and I agree with a lot of them, but I disagree too. The characterizations in this book were excellent, but there were some characters I really didn't want to get to know as well as I did. In other words, crazy. I wouldn't actually call this a thriller so much as a depressing look into mental illness - or something. I stayed for Hurricane Katrina and lived through it here on the Mississippi Gulf Coast so I completely understand the devastation - both to personal property and to mental health, but the mental health issues here were far more that hurricane issues.. Shall we just say that I knew from the about midway in the book where this was going to go. The author is talented and definitely revealed what was going on inside the characters minds, maybe a little more than I cared to know. Excellent writing and very thought provoking. I will never think of "family" quite the same way again.
