POET'S FEAR

If you only read the words I've written
If you can't see the depth beneath the ink,
If your heart and souls not touched
Then sadly, I'm not the poet that I think,
If I've failed to grasp your heart
Not touched you deep or made you cry,
If my verses have no meaning
Then all I've penned will fade and die,
If my words of love and sorrow
Don't touch your heart or leave a tear,
If what I've written has no effect
Then my writings been a waste I fear.
