An inspiring story, easy read

This book refreshed my soul. It was a magical account of King David and his relationship with the Lord, certainly a relationship to long for. This book brought the scriptures alive, like I was getting a peak into one of the most inspiring stories I've ever read. I have always loved reading about David in the Bible and this book just added all those details to make me feel I was there. Thought-provoking, insightful, a pleasurable read.

Easy Summer Read, Strong Biblical Message

Filled with strong imagery that links the Old Testament to the New Testament Covenants, Joyce uses compelling Biblical Truths to create an action-packed, emotionally touching account of David. Rather than taking liberties with Scripture, Joyce fills in the gaps, maintaining the integrity of the original historical biography of David. The reader is challenged to consider questions such as how did David recognize the future king in the present, ongoing sacrifice of lambs? Or, how does God deal with us when we have done wrong to others? Or how do we respond when wrongdoings are done to us by others? The tension between mercy and justice, wrongdoing and forgiveness, loyalty and betrayal, insanity and reason create realistic character development and easy identification with almost all of the key players involved. Woven throughout the book are excellent, timeless examples of leadership in action. Both my husband and I enjoyed the book.
