Of Ashes and Persiflage

Of Ashes and Persiflage is a collection of sixty poems by poet and academic Aneek Chatterjee. These poems were penned during 2018 and early 2020. Many of them got published earlier in a few reputed literary journals, in India and abroad. These are unrhymed poems, composed in free verse. A few poems in this collection reflect catastrophes that happened in the year 2020. The outbreak of coronavirus since the beginning of 2020 has exposed human beings to extreme dangers and challenges throughout the world. Further, the eastern states of India, particularly West Bengal, were hit by a severe cyclone, Amphan, in May. These disasters were quite perturbing for any individual. Therefore, a few pieces in this collection dwelled on these catastrophes.
