interesting take on the old humpty dumpty. i wasn't sure what to expect when i ordered it. my 3 year old likes it, and it has a nice message. humpty still dies, but it has some nice ways to remember him in it, making it a decent way to talk to kids about death i think.
Macabre....but my kids love it

My twin boys have adored this book since we picked it up by accident at the local library when they were two years old. Now they've just turned three and we have rented it from the library so many times that we've finally decided to buy our own copy! There's just something about the story and text (and illustrations) that they adore. It's somewhat macabre ("Humpty's insides will soon be out" and a few pictures of Humpty lying on the stretcher) but I think this is what makes it all the more fascinating to them. They can recite the rhymes almost word for word and every time we read it together they find something new in the illustrations. I would highly recommend this book but would disagree with the recommended age group - I think kids as young as two would also like it, especially if they are familiar with the traditional Humpty Dumpty rhyme (or have slightly twisted senses of humour as my boys obviously do).
