Katherine Bowman Walters, a school teacher and resident (now deceased) of the area does an excellent job of presenting the history of the Oconee River valley in middle Georgia from the "mound builders" through early indian occupation, frontier times, the revolutionary era, the civil war, the depression and into modern times. The book may be of limited interest to outsiders but to local residents, both new and old, presents a rare and facinating look at the historical importance of the area.
