Nice idea, technically OK

It is an attractive idea for a photographic project to collect images of pairs of marine creatures. Of course the problem is that it's difficult to get the shots, so artistry has to take second place, and ultimately the images are not technically perfect. Michele Westmorland does a creditable job in spite of this.

Intriguing concept and execution

Two creatures, two images, two voices. A composition pairing the visual and scientific descriptions of colorful sea life. A little book packed full of a big idea. Appealing to all audiences - age and interest. Recommended for it's exciting images, color, and layout.

Colorful Ocean Creature Couples

Award winning photographer Michele Westmorland has a real winner with Ocean Duets. This wonderful book features photographs of pairings of colorful sea creatures from exotic corners of the world. The photos are gorgeous, all in color, and feature a wide variety of marine life - some familiar and others not, some beautiful and others bizarre. This little gem is an all-glossy 8"x8" paperback, 96 pages, with color photographs on every page. While the subject of the photos are pairs of animals, the book layout usually involves pairs of pages - of two opposite facing pages, the left page has a small photo surrounded by explanatory text by Barbara Sleeper, while the right page features a full size duets photo. Frequent personal anecdotes from Michele are interspersed throughout the book, adding an additional dimension. Ocean Duets is priced right and a perfect gift book for lovers of photography, nature, and the mysteries of the ocean.
