Occurrences
Where Life Becomes Song
Occurrences is a collection of poems about ordinary life opening unexpectedly.
A boat, a river bend, a town, a man, a room, an animal, a sudden pressure in the heart - these poems attend to moments that might otherwise pass unnoticed. They are not explanations. They are encounters.
Through human scenes, Australian places, memory, sorrow, masculinity, silence, and flashes of light, Occurrences follows the way life discloses itself in fragments, rhythms, and half-heard songs.
These are poems of small events carrying more than they seem to carry - moments where the ordinary becomes charged, and life briefly becomes song.
