Obsidian Return
Book II of The Obsidian Continuum
He left once.
This time, leaving won't mean surviving.
The world is stable again. Predictable. Real.
But not complete.
Moments hesitate. Reflections misalign. Time stutters just enough to go unnoticed-except by him. What he escaped has not followed him. It has changed him.
And now-
it's reaching back.
Zara is no longer a memory, no longer a voice, no longer something he can define. She exists beyond distance, beyond form, beyond the rules that still bind him. And the closer he gets to understanding what she has become, the more the world begins to lose its hold on him.
This isn't about crossing back.
It's about choosing what remains when reality no longer needs to.
As the boundary dissolves and the illusion of control collapses, one truth becomes unavoidable:
You don't return from something like this.
You either continue-
or you stay behind as something incomplete.
And this time-
the choice won't let him remain the same.
