Obsessed with Cthulhu

Without any memory, Diana finds herself in an utopian fantasy world. Necromancy resurrects the dead, giant krakens are lurking off the coasts, and a secret society is pulling strings to initiate the return of the Great Old Ones. These are malicious Babylonian gods bringing darkness and death.
In the island monarchy, crude oil is a precious resource, so the main forms of transportation are steam locomotives and sailing ships. Driving a car is a privilege of the rich, and everything made of plastic is considered a modern luxury. This includes records, telephones and fashion made of latex and rubber. Gothic meets steampunk here, and hedonistic decadence comes together with the Victorian age.

At the beginning of the story, the protagonist wakes up in a hospital, where she soon encounters walking corpses and other threats. Thanks to her newfound magical abilities, she is able to defend herself. They are given to her by Cthulhu, a goddess who belonged to the Great Old Ones herself before she sided with humanity.
Cthulhu leads Diana to her destiny, which includes a multimillion inheritance. The two meet in their dreams and fall in love. The goddess gives Diana the order to bring her into this world through a dark ritual.

The names and nature of some supernatural characters are inspired by Lovecraft's tales, as well as the Babylonian creation myth, like it is described in the legendary Necronomicon, for example. However, this is an independent story that will be continued as a series and that includes much more. In addition to classic horror and fantasy elements, irony and a satirical look at our society also have their place.
