Obesity in a hot water environment

The present work allowed us to evaluate obesity in some hotels in the city of BUJUMBURA among female workers, comprising 72 employees divided into three categories corresponding to their respective work positions. The results obtained noted a prevalence of 20%. In addition, we found an overall abdominal fat distribution of 32% in these subjects. The latter was clearly predominant among obese workers at a rate of 86% and 19% among non-obese workers. The workstation favors the abdominal distribution of fat in the already obese subjects, especially in the administrative and domestic staff. Hypertension was found mainly in the domestic staff among obese and non-obese subjects at a rate of 25% and 10% respectively. Hyperglycemia was found mainly among obese administrative staff at a rate of 14% compared to 10% of domestic staff among non-obese. Hypercholesterolemia and hypertriglyceridemia were found in all three categories at varying rates. The proportions obtained would be related to dietary and kinetic factors.
