Obedience Is Key

The closer we grow in relationship with someone, the more we mirror their habits. There's a popular saying that you are who your friends are. So what happens when you get super tight with Jesus, who is also your Lord and Savior? Surely you start looking more like Him. Or, looking at you starts to seem like a window to Jesus.

This is obedience. You just so happen to be obeying His requests and commands because you know Him, love Him, trust Him, and walk with Him. It's obedience by happenstance. You simply love Him and know that He wants what's best, so you listen to Him. Particularly His voice through the Holy Spirit living inside you. What a cool concept.

After I fully surrendered to Jesus, I realized my habits and thoughts were changing. The lessons I learned on my surrender journey weren't over just because I surrendered. They became a foundation as I entered a different phase of faith, as I started walking it out.
