In June, former model Mari McCallan with her fiance, Lenny Sparrow, an avian biologist, travel tom the Welsh island of Anglesey, the scene of a lavishly planned outdoor wedding. Lenny, as an avid bird watcher, roams some offshore nesting grounds while Mari tags along and attempts to keep Lenny's focus on the impending nuptials. During the rehearsal a gale force storm blows across the island and compels the wedding party to take refuge inside the nearest shelter available, a cave in the local hills where they are rendered unconscious when a bolt of lightning slams into their hideout. Waking groggy and nauseated, the group find themselves on an Anglesey they barely recognize, the unfamiliar world of the first century where they must survive among Druids and Romans and a primitive society where human sacrifice is commonplace and a looming war threatens to annihilate the island's population.
Getting back to their own time becomes an elusive prize until one among the time travelers, an electrical engineer, Ivan Erikson, devises an experiment he believes will reverse the misfortune that has sent them all to the past and will catapult them all back to the 21st century.
